Dr. Sheriff is a Senior Project Leader at the European Bioinformatics Institute, part of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL-EBI) in Hinxton, Cambridge, UK. His work involves developing tools and resources for the mechanistic and AI/ML modelling of biological systems. He spearheads the curation of models in the BioModels repository and leads the development of its web infrastructure. Dr. Sheriff’s research focuses on developing a ‘Digital Twin’ of the human immune system and cancer, collaborating extensively with major pharmaceutical companies. He is an active contributor to the development of community standards in modelling and serves as an elected editorial board member of the Systems Biology Markup Language (SBML). With over 14 years of research experience as a computational biologist, Dr. Sheriff has held positions at the Medical Research Council – London Institute of Medical Science, Imperial College London, and the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology in Germany. Currently, he also serves as an honorary senior lecturer in the Department of Surgery and Cancer at Imperial College London.
